my back yard is a mess (not for much longer!!!)...but that didn't stop me from sending kaleb and his cousins avery and mikah outside to play for a while. it was so nice to send them out to a fenced back yard and not worry about them taking off down the road. they road scooters on the new court, climbed the big tree, dug in the dirt and then i look out to see them gathering lots of sticks. they pile them into the firepit and i run to grab the camera.
this is them deciding how to pile the sticks. they tried to make a teepee with the sticks but they couldn't get it to stay up...so they opted for just a pile.
then avery tells kaleb and mikah to back up so she can start the fire. they do as they are told and she grabs two rocks and starts banging them together...trying to make sparks.
where do kids learn this stuff. she is 4 years old...almost 5. what kid that age knows that you bang rocks together to make fire?
...at least i know if kaleb ever got stuck in the wild with her that she would build them a fire to stay warm.
