the time is now

a couple of months ago my sister was having a conversation with my oldest brother.  my brother just recently moved back to utah after living out of state for some years.  having missed lots of pregnancies over the years, my sister was filling him in on just how big i tend to get at the end of pregnancy...i don't think they knew i was listening from afar.  i remember my sister saying, "at the end of her pregnancy with kaleb she was..."  and then instead of using words to describe me she held her arms out as if to imitate a fat person and then blew her cheeks up with air...

...of course it was at this point they noticed that i was listening.  my brother busts up laughing and my sister drops her arms, lets the air out of her cheeks, smiles at me and says, "oh, i was just telling him how rough the end of your pregnancy with kaleb was."  this was followed by another giant smile in my direction.  the kind of smile that shows too many teeth and seems to hope i didn't really hear all that.

i shoot her a look so that she knows in my mind i am calling her a mean, yet endearing name (you know the one right?) and then i smiled and laughed out loud because i know that her "michelin tire man" description was totally accurate.

why do i relate this story?  well, i am again at the end of another pregnancy.  today i look like this:

but the next 4 weeks is when my body can't take it anymore.  my feet will soon look more like scuba flippers.  my perfectly fitting watch is getting tighter by the day.  and my butt.  oh my butt will soon stick out in equal proportion as my tummy.

so, dave, the time is now that you will see malissa's arms-out-with-cheeks-puffed-up description come to fruition...but this time when you guys decide to laugh about my water retentious state, you should make sure i am not in  earshot...you only get that one freebie.

I did NOT puff out my cheeks & all I said was that at the end of a pregnancy your belly sticks out maybe a little more that other people. It's because you are so freaking skinny and beautiful...the belly can be a little shocking. :)
Love Ya!

Whatever Erin, you look like a skinny lady with a basketball tucked in your shirt! As a matter of fact, you kinda suck JK.

I think you look as adoreable as ever..just a cute girl that stuffed a basketball under her shirt:) Too bad the basketball is so much easier to get out and take care of:) FORGETTING that your newborns sleep thru the night right off the bat:)

I think you have a very healthy glow and who cares what you look like when you are ready to have a baby because we all know that as soon as that kid comes it is back to your skinny jeans!
